Plastic Collector

The idea is all about changing our habit and distinguishing between organic and inorganic waste. In my opinion it will have some benefit for saving environment and it is going to easy the day to day job of municipality manual scavenging and also it is going to separate the plastic content from organic waste, which will help in planning further  for plastic disposal in better way.
Currently in India, we are using plastic bags more in numbers as compared to other developed countries. Plastic has very bad impact on our environment and it is mostly non-recyclable. It spoils our rivers and farming land. Bigger concern for countries like India is the rate plastic usages are increasing day by day. In many of the countries it has been banned and India few of the states had banned plastic but it is almost impossible to implement the idea of banning plastic usage among people due to corruption, unawareness. Many of the household are involved in this business and shutting down it is not possible in a single day by some legislations. Because it has reached to our day to day life. Awareness can be a tool to reduce its usage among people and which can lead to shutdown of bodies which produces non-recyclable plastic. Or upcycling it might be started. One should start the awareness program on big levels in cities at least where information travel time is very less. Through SMSs, mails, posters on roads, ads etc could be possible way to do this. Government/local bodies should have instructions for coming Mall culture to Metros, Tier A , Tier B town to prevent the usage of non-recyclable plastic from their business model of delivering goods and other stuff  to customers. Today when I visit shops to buy vegetables, daily use stuff, milk, books , anything  shopkeeper handover all stuff in a polythene bag, now I can have two ways for avoiding usage of plastic in this case because first thing we have to accept that plastic comes to our contact in only this way.
One way of doing it could be, if we carry our own bag while visiting such places. Which is the old one. But what abut when we purchase packed items.  And the other one could be if we start separating our organic and inorganic waste i.e. if we start separating plastic waste from the other one of anykind and dump it separately in some dumping  zones which can be created for plastic only in societies, around parks, colonies, playgrounds, stations, and outside offices, business parks. It is a very simple practice which can help us in a bigger way. First of all the collection of plastic from the normal waste can be organized.  It will help in identifying some special mechanism to dump this waste or if possible then upcycling (recycle and upcycle are two different concept) of this sort of waste. Second benefit of it could be, we can save thousands of children working in and around the roads for collection of plastic waste. In case if this can be handled by municipal corporations then on later stage if we can discover it as a revenue model then the money produced can be utilized in education, food, health care of these children.

Tree

Can we try to plant a plant , a single plant only once in our whole life and care it till it grow? Millions of plant would appear on our earth. And earth will become green again.

Lets try it. Dont choose Canabis for plantation, it is not gud for health. :)

Bicycle: Renovation of Innovation

Once upon a time bicycle used to be fantasy of people in their childhood. Atleast it was for me definitly. My dad bought me a Hero-Roadmaster when I was in 5th standard. I used to ran with it almost 5-6 hours daily with specific noise. Jhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..Bhooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnn.
Time has changed and changing continiously. May be almost 7 years I havent ride on cycle but I willing to. Yet another day passed.
These days when I'm staying in Bangalore and climate change debate is continiously making a lot of heat around so I think bicycle can play an important role in reducing the pollution. We can atleast have half an hour of cycling daily which would be good for health atleast. Also in case if we have to travel small distances, for that cycle is the best option. In my opinion goverment should develop such planning that in closed and small markets ( Like MG Road in pune or Bangalore )traffic should be diverted and public bicycles should be provided with minimal charges. This could be implemented at small scales and then it can be groomed over the period of some time.
But for that most necessary thing is to develop honesty and trust over the government and people. Which is the most abundant thing in ourselves. I heard from one of my friend when he was in Finland, he talked and surprised about the honesty of Finnish people.
In addition to this we have to market the benifits of bicycles, either it can come from Bicycles manufacturars or from Government or NGOs. But the initiative to be there. Again this model gonna create awareness among people.
Small Societies, Colleges, office spaces, IT/Business Parks can also facilitate or work with such thoughts which can put a working model with helps of builder or contracters. Definitly it is gonna be less expensive to travel with in the campus, less pollution, better health prospects and more environment friendly.
Also it will give us a chance to improve the sporting sprit in bicycling sports or the adventure ones.

Message : Remove polythene from your life

Lets assume it as a competition ( because we perform better if we try to compete ) and try to reduce the use of polythene from our daily life. In Indian context it is a big harm to our environment.

Green GDP

The concept is evolve recently and first founded by china. But mostly its recognise by whole world now and developing countries like India are also in que to publish such concept in invaluating their economic processes and progress.
But cautiously its dangerous as well, because China fisrt published its report in sep 2006 and suppress that report that was again published in 2007. And the reason was  that report shows financial losses caused by environmental damage was approximate 66 billion USD. Which was pulling economic and polical growth to approximate to zero in many of chinese province. Which was not politically acceptable for chinese government.
Interestingly environment minister Shri Jai Ram Ramesh gave a statement few days back that India is also going to publish the same sort of indicator by 2015. I'm not very much sure if that would be very productive without having such research in the area. If such report causes damage to growth in any sense then what is the purpose to work upon it rather than get that money invested in areas which requires most attention.
Hope so government respond to such projects cautiously. Because lot of public money involved in it.

Reference : I read about Jairam Ramesh statement on Green GDP in financial express 2-3 days back.

The Kyoto Protocol’s flexible mechanisms

The flexible mechanisms are among the most central points in the Kyoto Protocol and the object of extensive discussion, but at COP7 in Marrakesh in 2001 agreement was reached on their ultimate form. The mechanisms are called flexible, as they are intended to supplement the countries’ or companies’ own reductions in CO2. The issue of where in the world the reductions take place is irrelevant for the climate, and the flexible mechanisms allow this fact to be exploited. By using the mechanisms, companies and countries can choose to reduce CO2 emissions where it is most cost-effective, for example in a developing country. This also involves the transfer of technology, financing and skills to developing countries.
The Kyoto Protocol operates with three flexible mechanisms:
International Emissions Trading: The 37 countries that in the Kyoto Protocol have set targets for the quantity of greenhouse gases they are allowed to emit are able to trade these emissions permits among themselves. If a country has a surplus of these “CO2 quotas” because it has switched to a cleaner form of economy, it can sell them to one of the other countries.
Clean Development Mechanisms and Joint Implementation: Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) are mechanisms whose purpose is to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in concrete projects and concurrently to promote climate initiatives and sustainable development in developing countries. The projects generate CO2 credits that correspond to the reduction in greenhouse gases achieved by the project. The country that is hosting the JI or CDM project can sell the credits it obtains to companies or industrialised countries, which can use the credits to supplement domestic or internal initiatives.
One credit corresponds to one ton of CO2 emissions. CDM credits are reductions from concrete projects in countries with no reduction obligations in the Kyoto Protocol. These projects are carried out in developing countries. JI credits are reductions from concrete projects in countries that have undertaken a reduction obligation for greenhouse gases in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol. These projects are carried out primarily in Eastern Europe and Russia.
Up until the summer of 2008 just over 1,100 CDM projects had been approved. In total they represent reductions in greenhouse gas emissions of about 220 million tons of CO2 equivalents a year. The UNFCCC’s secretariat expects CDM projects covering a total of 2.7 billion tons of CO2 equivalents to be launched in the period from 2008 to 2012. There has been less activity involving JI, and 22 projects had been approved up to October 2008.

First Post

Purpose :
Purpose for this blog is to take some sort of initiative in areas related to climate change and it its impact on our environement and future.
Over the period of some time I relaised that we need to amend our lifestyle and way we live so that we can identify objects or processes from varias areas which are affecting our environemt and creating an visible imbalance in natural prcoess. Hope this will stay till end.
Since we are the stakeholds in this, so feel free to contact me...
